Campus Closed, Classes Canceled Through End of Day Tuesday

October 27, 2019 - 3:36pm

Another county-wide power shutdown is likely for Tuesday, Oct. 29, as early as 6 a.m., due to the potential for high winds in the forecast.

As a result, campus will remain closed and classes will be canceled through the end of the day Tuesday, Oct. 29. There are NO exceptions.

PG&E announced the current wind event has passed and that power lines are currently being inspected. Power may be restored for campus sometime Monday, Oct. 28. However, with another wind event predicted for Tuesday, PG&E is expected to cut power again Tuesday morning.

**Please be aware this timeline is an estimate only and could change, depending on the weather.

As a reminder, please be careful if traveling during the shutdown. Traffic and street lights may be out and there may be wildfires and shutdowns in other regions. You’re encouraged to check PG&E and your hometown county website for updated information on the shutdown, and CalTrans for updates on road conditions and closures.

Students, staff, and faculty and their families are welcome to eat for free at the J for the duration of each shutdown. Parking remains free.
